About USYDC

Based in East Nashville, the Urban Services Youth Development Center (USYDC) serves minority and other underserved middle school and high school student across Davidson County.

USYDC programs are designed to address the needs of each community we serve. Those needs include:

  • College and career preparation
  • Improving literacy
  • One-on-one mentorship
  • Behavioral coaching
  • Abstinence education and risk prevention
  • A sense of belonging with other students
  • Opportunities to build character

Free to families

The USYDC is funded completely by grants and the generosity of donors. This approach removes the potential financial barriers our students face to receiving the support they need.

Working with community partners

Students in our programs are referred to us by caring adults in their communities. Our partners include:

  • Families
  • Teachers
  • School administrators
  • Housing officials
  • Tutors
  • Public officials

These partners help us provide the type of support that serves these students' specific needs.
